Our Infrastructure: Software Technology Park Shillong India
Software Technology Parks of India
Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) is an autonomous body set up by the Department of Communication & Information Technology, Government Of India in 1991. The main objectives for STPI are to encourage, promote and boost the Software Exports from India.
STPI provides the infrastructure for ITES to function smoothly. The parks incorporate a comfortable environment complete with separate cubicals containing workstations for private entrepreneurs. These workstations come with Internet connectivity. There is also the option of VSAT as backup incase of Internet redundancy.
The first STPI unit in the northeast was set up in Guwahati on 14th August 2000.
STPI, Shillong
Situated in the Lumjingshai area of Shillong, the STPI facility is situated near plush forests and a quiet idyllic neighbourhood. Constructed on the ruins of what was a now a defunct watch factory, the building really does look like a phoenix that has risen from ashes.
Chillibreeze and STPI
Chillibreeze Solutions moved into the STPI premises on 21st January 2008. The formal signing of the lease with STPI officials was held two days later, on 23rd January 2008. By moving into the park Chillibreeze became the first ITES in Meghalaya to do so. The move from centrally located Laitumkhrah to a little out of the way STPI facility was not easy but Chillibreeze is determined to put the excellent talent of the northeast where it belongs – on a global scale.
