The World is Flat
Whenever we come across an unusual name it makes us stop and think. It may be the title of a movie or a book or these days even a website. 360Flat simply got its name from the excellent bestseller “The World is Flat” by three-time Pulitzer winner Thomas L. Friedman.
Like the author, we too at Chillibreeze believe that the world is flattening out like never before. You may be living in Wellington, New Zealand and need to communicate with someone who lives in Guadalajara, Mexico – that’s clean across the globe – and yet you do this without the slightest qualm. Look at the options available at your disposal: telephone, email, Skype…as the world flattens out farther we will have a mind-boggling array of communication devices to choose from. It doesn’t matter anymore whether you are 10 km or 10,950 km – as in the case of the above two cities – apart.
According to the book, there are 10 forces that have flattened the world. Below is a gist of these 10 forces, you will of course have to read the book if you wish to study this in detail.
The 10 Flatteners
- 11/9/89 – The date the Berlin wall came crumbling down.
- 08/09/95 – The emergence of the Internet as we know it.
- Work Flow Software – the flowing of work between companies and continents.
- Uploading – Community developed software and blogging.
- Outsourcing – Working for an American company while living in India or Brazil.
- Offshoring - The movement of entire companies or factories to another continent or country.
- Supply – Chaining – Horizontal collaboration between suppliers, retailers and customers.
- Insourcing – Logistics managed by at third party.
- Informing – The emergence of Google, Yahoo!, MSN Web Search
- The Steroids – Palm Tops, IPods, Wireless – enabled Laptops and the Pentium Processor.

Where is the team from?
Being based in Shillong, Meghalaya INDIA most of the team members come from Shillong. The rest of the team comes from the different states of North East India. We would like to have at least one team member from all the seven states of North East India. We are proud to hire mostly local people and presently 90% of the team is Khasi from the Khasi tribe.
What is the average age and academic background?
As of now, the youngest member of the team is all of 19 years and almost everyone else is in their mid-twenties and early 30s. Academically, almost everyone is a college graduate.
How do people like working?
